The Amalia Olivares Castro Family
Amalia Olivarez Castro comes from a family of 12 children born to Orencio Olivarez and Vidala Muniz. She is the 4th great granddaughter of Martin de Leon.
Her great-great grandfather was Jose Maria Aldrete, son of Candelaria de Leon and Captain Jose Miguel Aldrete. In 1837 after the war of independence, several of his uncles were murdered and his family was terrorized, so Jose Maria Aldrete moved across the border into Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Jose Maria is a cherished figure in Camargo, Mexico because of his heroic and glorious career as a part of the National Guard. During the Mexican-American War in an American invasion, it is noted of his action to disarm and snatch the flag bearer of the regiment at Lafayette in Nuevo Leon. The captured flag is preserved in the Hall of Flags in the historic Chapultepec Castle located in Mexico City.
Candelaria, Jose Miguel, and Jose Maria are all buried in Villa Nueva de Camargo in the family crypt of his wife Francisca Ramirez.

Manuel Leon de Leon
Is the only son of Maria Antonia de la Garza and Agapito de Leon, grandson of Martin and Patricia.
Agapito is Martin and Patricia de la Garza de Leon's 6th child and 4th son. Agapito, according to Jack Jackson and stories passed down to us, was shot off his horse by the dastardly Mabry "Mustang" Grey. As the story goes, Grey was caught rustling longhorn cattle bearing the de Leon brand. It is told after Agapito was shot in the abdomen, he was taken home to die in the arms of his mother Patricia several days later.
Of note are the maternal grandparents of Manuel Leon de Leon, Guadalupe Vela and Juan Julian de la Garza. After Guadalupe Vela died, Juan Julian remarried sister to Placido Benavides, Leonor. Juan Julian was killed by hostile indians on his Rancho (near Odom Texas today) and Leonor died later that same year, 1836 after giving birth to her last child Alejo, step brother to Maria Antonio and Uncle to Manuel Leon.
